Glossier’s Balm Dotcom – Review

Glossier Balm Dotcom

As an obvious lipstick addict I’m always on the look out for a great balm. I first spied Glossier’s Balm Dotcom in a few Youtube videos, Hey Clare and I Covet Thee, I believe and as far as Youtubers go, those are two that I definitely trust! So I finally decided to place an order the other week! I have to make sure I keep my lips moisturized, especially doing daily lipstick reviews. Speaking of, if you haven’t yet, please check out my Instagram: The Lipstick Diaries! It’s full of tons of swatches and reviews! I’m currently testing out the new Colourpop Ultra Satin Lips and I’m already in love!

Balm Dotcom is actually a universal skin salve, so it’s not specifically for the lips. You can use it on your cuticles, dry patches or wherever you’d like. I basically love everything about it. From the way it was sent to me, in a box with plenty of #GlossierPink and they even give you a sheet of stickers to add to the tube, so cute! I really love the simplicity of the packaging, just a pop of pink at the top is perfect. (I think you can tell by now, I love my pink!) There’s no scent and it’s not overly sticky or glossy, it feels very comfortable on the lips. I put it on last thing before I go to bed and I wake up with my lips feeling super soft and moisturized. The only thing I can think of to improve is that I wish it was easier to apply directly from the tube to the lips. Right now I use my finger to apply it. But that’s definitely not a deal breaker for me with this, I’m going to be using it either way!

So if you’re on the hunt for something to keep your lips from feeling like the Sahara, I definitely suggest checking out Glossier’s Balm Dotcom! I’m planning on trying out some of their other beauty products soon as well, so keep an eye out!

Favorite Red & Pink Lipsticks for Valentine’s Day

Favorite Red & Pink Lipsticks

Despite the fact that I believe a red or pink lip is appropriate every day of the week, it is especially fitting this time of year. Your outfit may be all black, but pop on a red lip and you’re instantly festive. So I decided to pick out some of my favorites! Now these aren’t necessarily all transfer or kiss proof so sorry about that, but sadly that’s not something I have to worry about. #ForeverAlone

Favorite Red & Pink Lipsticks

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick – Carina – Described as an intense watermelon, this shade is a perfect blend of pink and red. The application was a bit streaky, but once it’s on your lips it’s staying there. There was very minimal transfer and I admit it was slightly drying and I even have a greater tolerance for matte lipsticks than a lot of people I know. I did have some flaking in the center of my lips & some feathering, but still somehow at the end of the day the color looked fantastic. It was actually a little tough to remove at the end of the night.

Rimmel Provocalips 16 Hour Kiss Proof Lip Colour – Kiss Me You Fool – A warm toned red, which leans a little orange. Now this one certainly is kiss proof. You may or may not remember I tested out two shades from this range and this particular color did fantastic. It’s super pigmented and very easy to apply, you just start out with the color and make sure you don’t let your lips touch for about 60 seconds to let it dry, then you apply the gloss! While I’m not the biggest fan of the gloss, it does help the lips feel more hydrated and the shine eventually fades. It’s a great option if you’re going to be spending all day in your lipstick and don’t have time for touch ups.

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick – Bella – A bright pink and clearly the most pink of all my favorites. I’ve only recently started wearing pink shades and this is such a gorgeous one. When applying this it’s best if you use a thin layer, I found that if I you try to do more than one it just moves the lipstick around. Luckily it’s extremely pigmented so you get full coverage in one swipe. I did have some transfer and flaking, but the color still looked really nice throughout the day.

NYX Full Throttle Lipstick – Firestorm – A bright red with a slight magenta undertone and quite possibly my favorite out of the bunch. I’m in love with this formula. It’s a gorgeous matte and it feels great on the lips. I did end up eating oily food and it completely wore away, but I didn’t have any issues reapplying and after that it stayed nearly perfect for the rest of the day. So as with most lipsticks I would just avoid oils and this one will have great longevity.

Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick – Bachelorette – A dark reddish fuchsia and this one definitely leans a bit more red than pink. In my opinion since it does tend to look more red it’s easier to wear. The pigmentation is fantastic and it’s so easy to apply. It dries down really quickly and it does feel a bit drying. As for everlasting, it only faded in the center slightly but other than that it still looked beautiful at the end of the day.

Marc Jacobs Le Marc Lip Crème Lipstick – So Sofia – This one is described as an electric watermelon and I think it’s a more fitting description than for Carina. I also featured this in a previous post. I was surprised by how much I liked these, they’re very creamy and pigmented. They’re not as matte as I usually go for, but they do a pretty good job sticking around. This shade in particular held up nicely, making it through lunch, but once it was around dinner time the color was pretty much gone.

Maybelline Creamy Matte Lip Color – All Fired Up – A bright hot pink that once on the lips looks deeper and slightly more red. I absolutely love the creamy matte range, they’re so comfortable and just glide onto the lips. It does transfer some and I had a bit of feathering after lunch, but nothing terrible. After having dinner I was left with a stain the rest of the evening and for some reason it actually looked really great.

Too Faced Love Flush Blush Wardrobe – Review & Swatches

Too Faced Love Flush Blush

I’m definitely a blush girl. Once you’ve been asked multiple times a day if you’re ill you start to realize maybe you do need to add a hint of color to your cheeks. So I make sure to never leave the house without a little blush. The new Too Faced Love Flush Blushes have been on my wishlist since they were released and then this beauty came out: The Too Faced Love Flush Blush Wardrobe. I ummed and ahhed, debating whether or not I should buy it. Do I really need more blush? But it was just such a fantastic deal that I ultimately couldn’t pass it up!

The palette contains all six of the long lasting blushes for $36. Sure they’re pretty small, but if you’re anything like me and have a rather large collection of blushes it’s doubtful you’d end up going through these completely. It’s currently sold out online and I know it’s limited edition so I’m not sure if it will come back in stock at all. But if you spot it in store definitely grab it while you can! It’s a really great way to also test out all the blushes at once and maybe pick up a full size of your favorite.

Too Faced Love Flush Blush

I really love the range of shades, there’s something for everyone. Love Hangover is a warm pink, Baby Love is a soft dusty nude with fine gold sparkle, I Will Always Love You is a gilded peach, How Deep Is Your Love is a watermelon pink, Justify My Love is a bright pink with fine gold sparkle and Your Love Is King is a plumy rose. I think my favorites are Baby Love, which is a great neutral shade for pairing with bold lipsticks and Your Love Is King, which is just a perfect pop of color on my pale skin. I noticed I Will Always Love You felt a bit different when swatching it, it was almost creamy and it has a slight iridescence to it. I can’t say if they last 16 hours as they claim, but they do have great staying power.

The design is super cute. I just love all the pinks and purples and seriously, the hearts are simply adorable. As much as I love the hearts I do find the size of them a little small for all of my blush brushes. And the overall size of the palette is a little awkward for travel, however it is quite thin so it won’t take up too much space. This blush wardrobe is a fantastic value and I highly suggest picking it up if you can! It’s the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for yourself!
